This is NOT just deep breathing exercises, it is very different.

The gentle breathing and movement/exercise (while lying down) helps to circulate more oxygenated blood up into the brain and down into the body.  Long term stress and poor posture or whiplash can cause constriction of some of the blood vessels in the brain.  When the brain has restricted blood supply for a long time it causes constriction of blood vessels and cramping in the body.   It also causes pooling of blood that needs to be replenished with oxygen and lymph in the brain.  NB The brain is getting some oxygenated blood, otherwise a person would faint, just not as much as it should.

Stress can also cause shallow breathing and cramping in the intestinal muscles and keep you in sympathetic fight and flight dominance.

Personal Tuning can also take us back into Parasympathetic relaxed, recovery state helping symptoms resulting from stress.
